Pro Evolution Soccer

Building on the immense success of Pro Evolution predecessors, Pro Evolution 5 continues to grow.

With added new features along with a brilliantly crafted gaming engine, it does not fail to disappoint.

When I first tested this game, I must admit, I thought the Konami staff had been drugged as I felt it played sluggish compared to its predecessor. But after hammering at it for a good 30 minutes, I realised that it was beyond doubt- the best of it series and by far the best footballing simulator game out there right now. With compatibility expanding from the XBox to the PS2, PSP and also the PC.

The game comes with 5 different levels of difficulty (marked by stars) and a 6th level can be un-locked by earning points from competing in Exhibition Mode, winning Leagues and Cups to completing Training Challenges.

What I love about Pro Evolution 5, is the easy learning curve and complexity of the gameplay. It may take you 10 minutes to learn how to play, but it will take you weeks/months to be an expert of the game. There are so many ways to beat your opposition, ranging from curling free-kicks, header from a cross, or even a cheeky lob over the goalkeeper.

The normal Leagues (official Italian, Dutch, French, German, English and Spanish leagues) and the Cups are exciting, the bread and butter of the experience- but compared to the illustrious Master League, the ML must be a 3-course meal at a 3-star Michelin restaurant.
The Master League is where you can play with your custom team, ready-made team or the starter Master League team. This is where you manage your team and also can play it in-game to lead them to success. You are responsible for the buying/selling of players, renewing contracts and formation settings aswell as other responsibilities such as managing your finances (explained in Tips and Tricks).

Though, I have generally said good things about the new Pro Evolution Soccer, I must confess that there is one slight problem which can be solved, but would prefer it to be improved. This problem is the awful, and disgraceful commentary engine. This is because the lines are repeated excessively and also because that the commentator usually gets the play mixed up (Talks about shooting when a corner is about to be taken). I usually solve this problem by turning off the commentary in the sound settings.

Other than that, this is the best footballing game by far, and just keeps on improving!
